Rava means semolina and dosa is the delicious South Indian pan cakes. Served with coconut chutney, rava or ravvattu dosa is a healthy way to start your day. Quick to prepare and easy to digest, this recipe would also be good for your health. If you want to prepare an instant breakfast then this rava dosa recipe could be a good option. Combine it with flour and a few spices for immediate dosa batter. There is no complicated fermentation procedure involved in the recipe that makes the cooking quicker. This crunchy dosa is a suitable snack or breakfast with a hot cup of tea.
INGREDIENTS:
- 120 gm unroasted rava (suji, semolina)
- 120 gm rice flour
- 30 gm all purpose flour (maida)
- 2 green chopped chilies
- 1 chopped onion
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped ginger
- 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 cups water (or as required)
- Salt as taste
- Oil/ghee to fry
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Mix all the ingredients except oil to get a dough
- Let it rest for 30 minutes
- Now heat a tava or non-stick pan and pour a little oil/ghee to fry the dosa batter
- Fill a ladle of the batter and pour from the edges towards the centre
- Pour a little oil from the top
- Once the base becomes golden and crisp, flip it and cook the other side
- In the same way prepare the remaining dosas and serve with coconut chutney
- Tips: • If using non-stick pan then no need to spread oil • Serve it hot as it tends to get hard as it turns cold • Batter should be thin and easy to pour • Instead of water you can also use butter-milk or curd
